Bachata Thursdays

Hmm. My feeling was that they're trying to make this night more clubby than a place to come together and dance and I didn't love that. The music is VERY loud for a small space -- you can't really talk to your dance partner or barely people standing around the dance floor. I thought to myself that I should have brought earplugs because there's nothing about an average Thursday night of dancing that says "let's suffer hearing loss". I have to also say that the venue is not great. The dance floor is kind of awkward, a temp floor on top of concrete with giant pillars on one side and just kind of encouraging people to dance in different directions and collide. The venue doesn't allow water bottles... which I think is really lame but it's a bar and they're probably trying to make money so that's what it is. It's a lot of the same community as the Sunday night dance in Easthampton that happens once a month but I think if I had only been to this event I wouldn't know that the community is so kind and chatty because it's so hard to communicate. I don't go out dancing so I can be forced to yell in people's ears. I don't know -- it was my first experience here and I'm kind of meh about going again.
